Quick Fixes When an MP4 Won't Save
Most problems come down to one of these.
Video plays instead of downloading
Normal behavior on many phones. Tap the three-dot menu and choose Download, or long-press the video and pick Download or Save. On a computer, right-click and choose Save video as.
Nothing happens inside an app
Browsers built into Instagram, Facebook or TikTok often block downloads. Open this page in Chrome or Safari and try again.
The link isn't recognized
Copy the link again from the Share button so no extra text gets pasted along with it. Watch links, youtu.be, Shorts, mobile and YouTube Music links all work.
The video won't load at all
Private, age-restricted, members-only, removed or region-blocked videos may not work. Live streams that are still running can't be saved until they end.
Only one video from a playlist
A playlist link saves just the video it points to. Paste each video's link separately to get the others.
You can't find the saved file
Check your browser's Downloads list first. On Android, look in the Downloads folder; on iPhone and iPad, open the Files app and go to Downloads.

In the YouTube app or website, tap Share and then Copy link. On a computer you can also copy the address straight from your browser bar.

Yes. Every video quality, from 144p to 1080p, comes with audio. You don't need to download sound separately or merge anything afterward.
Why is 1080p the highest option?
The tool offers MP4 up to Full HD 1080p. Higher resolutions such as 1440p and 4K are not available. On phones, laptops and most TVs, 1080p still looks sharp.
How big will my MP4 file be?
It depends on the video's length and the quality you pick. The tool shows the exact size next to each option before you tap, so you can compare. A long video in 1080p can be large, while the same video in 360p stays much smaller.
Will the MP4 play on my iPhone or Android phone?
MP4 is one of the most widely supported video formats, so it plays in the built-in players on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows and Mac. On iPhone, files saved from Safari usually land in the Files app under Downloads. From there you can share the video to Photos if you want it in your library.
Can I save YouTube Shorts as MP4?
Yes. Paste the Shorts link the same way as a regular video link. The tool lists the available MP4 qualities, and since Shorts are brief, even 1080p files stay fairly small.
Is there a limit on video length?
